The end of January

I'm wearing animal print to represent my mood today.

Really looking forward to lunch with Sara and then getting some dental work done (not so exciting).  At least I'm only working half of the day.

A retrospective

It's been a month since my relationship ended.  Technically more than a month.  And what has changed?  Nothing!  Well, one thing.  I don't sit at home every night frustrated because I don't hear from him.  Everything else, exactly the same.

I sit in our house.... alone.  I go to work.  I walk Samson.  I am alone.  This is my least favorite place to be.

I'm dying for a change and unable to do anything about it.  I'm trying my hardest to get things figured out so I can move on.

It's not that I don't feel supportive and loved.  I do.  Everyone has been incredibly supportive.  But that only goes so far.  That doesn't help the umpteen hours I am at home alone with my thoughts.

I can't listen to some songs on the radio without getting upset.  I have had to stop watching romantic comedies.  I can't seem to get Bobby Vinton's song out of me head.  Which one?  This one...

I know everything that everyone says "it's only been a month... it's going to be hard... it's going to hurt."  I know that.  But it doesn't make it any easier.

Some days my mind just totally forgets what happened.  My mind still looks forward to having someone to sit on the couch with, someone to cuddle up with.  That's not easier.

I'm waiting and hoping and trying to move on.... and it's completely exhausting.

Goals Check-in: January Round Up

Can you believe that this is the last Friday in January???  I can't believe it.  I'm not ready for February.

Given it's the end of the month, I'm ready to check-in on my goals for the year.

1. SAVE MONEY, REDUCE DEBT: Fail.  Well, half fail.  I opened a savings account!  And I put a small amount of money in it.  I will be putting that same amount of money into the account each pay period (every two weeks).  It's a start.  Reducing debt?  Nope.  I am continuing to make payments which is good, just need to go the extra effort to pay a little more than the minimum.  I have a feeling this part of this goal is going to be hard for me, especially with the negative way the house situation is moving.

2. GET BACK IN SHAPE:  Hm....  not so good this month.  I worked out two days.  TWO days the entire month!  Now, part of this is because I was not at my house for 2 out of the 4 weeks, and I blame the rest of it on the fact that Kayla came. :)  I'll be back to my regular schedule of work outs as soon as I get home this weekend.  I'm not too worried about this one.  Plus, I weighed myself at the beginning of the month and just the other day and there isn't a change... so I guess that's a small achievement.  I still walk Samson several times a day, so it's not like I'm doing nothing!  Health wise, I read this great book on what you feed your body.  I'm ready to go grocery shopping this week with what I learned in mind.

3. STEP OUT OF MY COMFORT ZONE:  WIN!  I did well at this one.  I made plans after work, something I typically don't do because of Samson.  I wore dark nail polish, a first for me.  I wore sequins to work (and got complimented on them!).  I made a better effort to step out of my "jeans and t-shirt" uniform.  I need to think of ways to reach this goal in February.  Suggestions??

It's been really nice to be able to stay in VA with Leslie this week (THANKS LESLIE!)  so that Samson and I can be close by to Melissa and Justin.  It's going to be hard to go back home this weekend, but nice to know that I can come down on the weekends to visit and help out.

I'm typically not a NFL fan, but the Packers are in the Super Bowl and well.... who can resist this???

10 minute commute

So all this week  I am staying at my cousin and his wife's apartment in Arlington with Samson.  We did this thanks to their generous offer to let us crash so that I could be closer to family while everyone was still in town.

My commute to work in the morning is less than 10 minutes.  Seriously.  That is 1/6 of the time it typically takes me.  It also allows me to get an extra 30 minutes of sleep in the morning.

It's going to be hard to get back to my regular schedule next week, but it will be nice to be back home.  I know Samson will be happy.  I know he misses being able to sit outside.

almost February?

Is it just me or did January blow by??

I'm staying at my cousin's apartment this week with Samson so that I can be around a bit more to spend time with the family in town and just in case anything comes up with the new parents.  I know they will do great.  Selfishly, I just got more time to stare at Kayla.

This picture cracks me.  She is NOT crying btw.  She was making the funniest faces, my mom and I were in tears.  She is going to be a hilarious addition to the family.  :)

I realized today that I need to do my first goals update this week.  I will post that on Friday.  In the meantime, it was a wake up call that I really need to get my butt in gear.  I have not done well on my goals.

I blame the impending arrival of Kayla and the house drama.  Still no decision yet.  Hopefully we will come to an agreement soon.

Only working a half day today so I can visit with family.  My dad comes today to meet Kayla.
